Utilities Coordination

The space allocation for utilities within a road corridor is one of the most likely features of a road project that can be overlooked due to the fact that utilities are either thought of as having a small space within the corridor. Often design elements take precedence over space allocation and it is only towards the end of the project that a designer realises that there is insufficient space to fit all of the utilities within the footway area.

Refer to the Streets Opening Conference website for information on utility locations within the road corridor. In particular the NSW Streets Opening Conference Guide to Codes and Practices for Street Opening provides very detailed information on the potential allocation space within the road corridor for utilities to be located.
